Kirkwood Men’s Basketball Coach Enjoying Successful Career with the Eagles

The Kirkwood Men’s basketball team won it’s 10th game of the season over the weekend and in the process earned their head coach his 400th win at the school.

The Eagles (10-7) beat Clinton Community College 75-52 on Saturday night. While pleased with the milestone, Head Coach Doug Wagemester remains focused on the season.

His record of 400-102 is nothing to take lightly. During his 15 seasons as Kirkwood Men’s Basketball Coach, he piled up some impressive stats. He guided the team to nine national tournament appearances, three of which were national runners-up. Wagemester has won nine Region XI championships, 12 ICCAC championships and coached 10 All-Americans.

Success has followed him wherever he has gone. Before coming to Kirkwood, Wagemester coached at Grand View College in Des Moines. He set a school record for wins in a season after compiling a record of 25-9. He then brought his talents to Kirkwood.

The Eagles take on Iowa Central Community College tonight at Johnson Hall. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30.
