Baldwin Hired as IowaWORKS Regional Director

Kirkwood/IWD partnership focuses employment, training efforts in the Corridor

Iowa Workforce Development and Kirkwood Community College have announced the appointment of Carter Baldwin as Region 10 IowaWORKS Regional Director. Baldwin began his duties effective December 6, 2010.

Baldwin was previously Associate Director of Options of Linn County, a position he held for 10 years. At Options, Baldwin oversaw four employment service programs and established significant partnerships with area employers, non-profit agencies and local government. Baldwin also previously served with Systems Unlimited.

In commenting on the appointment, Kirkwood Vice President of Continuing Education and Training Services Kim Johnson said, “We are pleased to have a dedicated and focused public servant join our IowaWORKS team. Carter is well-known in the region through his community outreach, employer partnership building, networking and public involvement. We know he will bring strong contributions to the workforce needs for our area.”

Baldwin’s community ties include the Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce Leadership for Five Seasons program, plus service on various community boards. He received a baccalaureate degree in from Iowa State University. Baldwin, his wife, Kris and four children live in North Liberty.

IowaWORKS is a partnership between IowaWorkforce Development and the Skills to Employment services of Kirkwood Community College. The joint program offers an integrated set of services for employers, employees seeking skills enhancement, and job seekers.
