Kirkwood Foundation staffer honored for professional, civic involvement

A staff member of Kirkwood Community College has been named to the Corridor Business Journal “Forty Under 40” list for 2010. Annual Giving Director Eric Weiler of the Kirkwood Foundation was named to the annual list of top young professionals by the local business publication. The list of honorees was announced on Oct. 12.

“There were a record number of nominees for the 2010 Forty Under 40 list. These honorees were chosen by a selection committee comprised of last year’s honorees,” said Corridor Business Journal President and Publisher John Lohman.

Kirkwood Vice President of Resource Development Kathy Hall saluted Weiler for the recognition and his contributions to Kirkwood and the community.

“We are delighted to see Eric’s initiative and relationship-building skills honored by this award. He is a great team member for us at Kirkwood and shares his talents in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City community. Eric is a valuable human asset, both to the college and the Corridor,” Hall said.

Weiler has been the annual giving director at the Kirkwood Foundation since 2008. He previously served in development for Goodwill Industries in Iowa City. He also previously was involved in professional sports promotion and management.

Weiler’s community involvement is extensive, including past work with United Way of Johnson County, United Way of East Central Iowa, and the Iowa City Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Iowa City Noon Rotary Club and the local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Weiler is a member of the Leadership for Five Seasons Class of 2010 and also is active with Workplace Learning Connection, Toastmasters International, and his church. He also recently joined Impact CR and the board of directors for the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival.

Eric Weiler and the other Forty Under 40 honorees will be recognized at an awards reception Tuesday, Oct. 26 in Riverside, Iowa.
