The 2010 edition of the Corridor Career Fair will bring upwards of 50 employers to Kirkwood Community College’s recreation center on April 24.

The free event is open to all job-seekers. It will last from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Michael J. Gould Kirkwood Recreation Center, 6301 Kirkwood Blvd. SW. The center is at the north entrance to the campus, a short distance from the Highway 30/Kirkwood BLVD intersection.

While the career fair’s main purpose is to give employers and job-seekers a chance to meet, the event will also include sessions on job-search networking (9:15 a.m.), using social media in your job search (10:15 a.m.) how employers select new hires (11:15 a.m.) and writing a resume (12:15 p.m.).

Also scheduled are question-and-answer sessions with career experts at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

Throughout the four-hour event, job-seekers will be able to submit resumes for critique. They will also be invited to use a Internet cafe to apply for jobs online, update their resumes or print out resumes.

The event is hosted by a work force development partnership that includes Kirkwood as well as a host of higher education partners, CorridorCareers.com, The Gazette, GazetteOnline, KCRG-TV9 and KCRG.com.

Last year’s Corridor Career Fair attracted over 60 employers and 1,000 job-seekers. Organizers expect even more interested visitors this year.
