November, National Family Caregiver Month

By October 29, 2009January 16th, 2019No Comments

November is designated as National Family Caregiver Month and a time to thank, support, educate and advocate for the more than one out of four Iowans who are family caregivers.

During National Family Caregiver Month and every day, the Heritage Area Agency on Aging is here to assist family caregivers to act on behalf of themselves and their loved ones, and to remove barriers to health and well being.

The Heritage Agency provides services that will:

• Inform the caregiver- Connecting them to resources
• Encourage the caregiver- Supporting their tireless efforts
• Empower the caregiver- Helping them take control of their situation

Think of a family caregiver you know and celebrate this special month by reaching out and offering them a helping hand. Bring them dinner, offer to assist with transportation needs or provide some respite care to give them a break. Do something to help, it will be greatly appreciated.
