2013 Create Speaker Series at The Kirkwood Center

Three nationally renowned speakers are coming to Kirkwood Community College to share inspiring stories and information to spark innovation in the Creative Corridor. Participants will discover the tools and techniques needed to assert creative and innovative thinking, in their professional and personal lives.

Certified Speaking Professional Jeff Tobe leads off the series on Thursday, April 11. Bill Rancic, the first winner of NBC’s “The Apprentice” follows on Monday, May 13. JoAnn Corley, the CEO of a talent management company wraps up this inaugural series on Monday, June 10. Tuition is $179 for all three sessions, with lunch included. The series is held at The Kirkwood Center, with each running from 11:15 a.m.-1 p.m.

Tobe starts off the series with his humorous session, “Coloring Outside the Lines!™ Innovation and Creative Problem Solving.” His high-energy, participatory session has received outstanding reviews from diverse professionals around the world. He challenges audience members to step outside their comfort zones to position themselves more creatively than ever before. He provides the insight to give people the competitive edge for their professional and personal lives.

Many strategies have helped make Bill Rancic a successful entrepreneur. From starting a boat wash and wax business while in college, to running a million dollar company and working for Donald Trump, Bill will share the ups and downs on his road to success. Participants will get a glimpse of the lessons he has learned throughout his many business experiences, including how to break from the pack, make each day count–twice and separate expectations from shortcomings.

Corley’s “Creative and Innovative Thinking: The Next New Skill,” session aims to help tap and nurture creative and innovative thinking by connecting audience members with their creativity and unique contributions. She also will unveil an ideation process to tap creativity and apply over and over to continuously generate ideas, process improve and cultivate innovation.
