Cedar Rapids Public Library will also benefit at Aug. 30 event

Barnes and Noble Booksellers, 333 Collins Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, will host a fund-raising Bookfair to benefit Jazz 88.3 KCCK-FM, Saturday, August 30. Unlike similar fund raisers, however, this one has a unique twist that will also benefit the Cedar Rapids Public Library.

“For several weeks now, we’ve been collecting new and used CDs to help the Library rebuild its music collection,” says KCCK General Manager Dennis Green. “The Library has given us a “wish list” of jazz CDs lost in the June flood that devastated the Library’s main branch. We’ll have copies of the list at the store on Saturday. If someone buys a CD from the list using the special KCCK voucher, a portion of the purchase price will be donated to KCCK. We’ll then give the CD to the Library. Both organizations benefit.”

The voucher can be used to purchase most books and CDs at the store, but the Library is only accepting CD donations as a part of this campaign. Patrons can also bring used CDs in good condition to the store, which KCCK will give to the Library.

Vouchers can be downloaded at www.kcck.org or by calling (319) 398-5446. The Bookfair is being held at the Cedar Rapids Barnes & Noble location only, from 10am till close, Saturday, August 30.
