Friday, April 6, from 7-9 p.m.
The Floral Careers students at Kirkwood Community College will show off their talent in a design show featuring wedding, funeral, graduation and other floral arrangements that commemorate significant events in one’s life. The show is set for Friday, April 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. in room 141 of the Horticulture/Floral Building on the south side of the main Cedar Rapids Campus. It’s free for anyone to attend.
“Our students chose to call this show ‘Remember When,’” said Lora Dodd-Brosseau, Kirkwood Floral Careers faculty member. “It’s a chance to reflect back on life’s events and how we use flowers to express emotions when remembering those milestones.
“The entire event is student focused,” added Dodd-Brosseau. “They choose the theme, design the floral arrangements, decorate the commons area, create a backdrop for the stage area, make table favors for each guest to leave with and more.”
In addition, the student floral club, Forget-Me-Nots, is hosting a silent auction fundraiser of silk botanical spring designs. Guests can purchase and take them home that evening.
