June programs presented by Heritage Agency and SHIIP partners

More than 30,000 Iowans will turn 65 in 2008 and will become eligible for Medicare. Other Iowans will qualify for Medicare because of a disability. To meet the need for education and assistance with Medicare, the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) will be presenting “Welcome to Medicare” seminars across Iowa in 2008.

In the Heritage Agency region two two-hour seminars are planned in June at the Kirkwood Training and Outreach Services Center, 3375 Armar Drive, Marion. The seminar dates are June 10 or June 19.

Each two-hour seminar will give an introduction to Medicare Parts A & B, Medicare Advantage, Part D prescription drug coverage, Medicare supplement insurance and programs to assist with Medicare costs. The seminars are free, but reservations are required to ensure adequate materials.

Reservations may be made by calling the Heritage Agency at 319-398-5559 or 1-800-332-5934. The reservation deadline is June 6 for the June 10 seminar and June 13 for the June 19 seminar.
