Part of the Mel Oliven Lecture Series

Patricia Kelley, Ph.D., a paleontologist will speak on the topic of evolution and creation at the Mel Oliven Lecture Series on Tuesday, February 21, from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. in Ballantyne Auditorium. There will be a question and answer session from 12 – 12:30 p.m. The event is free.

Kelley is a Harvard graduate and a protégé of the late Steven Jay Gould, P.h.D., one of the most prominent paleontologists of the 20th Century. She is presently active in her home church and her husband is a Presbyterian minister.

Few people are better placed than Kelley to discuss the history, science, theology and social dynamics involved when faith meets evolution.

The Oliven Lecture began in 1977 and is the longest running lecture series at Kirkwood. It was founded in memory of Mel Oliven, long time Astronomy and Physics Professor at Kirkwood Community College. This lecture is made possible by the Oliven Endowment of the Kirkwood Foundation.
