Kirkwood Basketball Hosts Think Pink Night

Athletic teams help in the fight against breast cancer

The Kirkwood Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams partner with the Think Pink Organization to raise funds for breast cancer research on February 15. Both teams face NIACC in a conference matchup, with tipoff at 5:30 p.m. for the women and 7:30 p.m. for the men. All fans are encouraged to wear pink.

The Kirkwood volleyball and softball teams will assist in the fundraising efforts for the night. The teams are selling cookies and holding a 50/50 raffle drawing. A three-point shooting contest will also be offered, where participants can double their money if the shot is made. Kirkwood’s dance team will perform during halftime of both games.

The women’s team posts a 20-2 overall record with an undefeated 9-0 conference record. The Eagles moved to No. 5 on the national polls after a blowout win (102-39) over Southwestern Community College last week. Kirkwood holds an 18-game win streak, with the last loss dating back to early November.

For the second consecutive week, the men’s team grabbed a No. 4 ranking in the national polls.The Eagles post a 21-3 overall record, with an 8-0 conference record. The men’s and women’s teams are the only undefeated teams in conference play.
