Lee Belfield, general manager of The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, has been appointed to the Travel Federation of Iowa advisory team for the Iowa Tourism Industry Sector Plan.

A major initiative to strengthen our tourism industry, the sector plan will guide the Iowa tourism industry, enhance public-private partnerships, serve as a blueprint for legislative action and increase the economic impact of tourism in Iowa communities.

“This is an amazing opportunity to help strengthen Iowa’s tourism and all the businesses related to it,” Belfield said. “By doing so, we create more and better local opportunities for Kirkwood graduates and strengthen the economy of this region.”

As part of the 25-member advisory team, Belfield will assist in assessments of the current status of the tourism sector in Iowa, the development of a vision for future tourism development and the identification of economic opportunities within the tourism sector. The Advisory Team plays a key role in representing different segments of the tourism sector to assure the plan’s success.
