Cedar Rapids, Iowa (April 26, 2016)–Kirkwood Community College and Mount Mercy University signed a Business Administration Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) articulation agreement on April 8.

The arrangement creates a smooth transition for Kirkwood students seeking to continue a business-focused education at Mount Mercy. Those who have successfully earned an A.A.S. degree in business administration, and have met the minimum admission and general education requirements agreed upon by the two institutions, will have the opportunity to transfer on and complete a bachelor’s degree in business.

According to Kirkwood Vice President of Academic Affairs Bill Lamb, the agreement is about creating more opportunities for student success.

“A student who graduates with a Business Administration A.A.S. degree will be prepared to enter the workforce right away and/or transfer as a junior to Mount Mercy University to continue their studies in business,” said Lamb. “It really depends on the goals of the student. This agreement with Mount Mercy gives Kirkwood students more options and is an incredible opportunity for them to further their education at a fine institution like Mount Mercy.”

Mount Mercy University Provost Jan Handler agreed that this new pathway will give students the tools they need to realize their academic and career aspirations.

“This articulation agreement represents a further step in our long, vibrant partnership with Kirkwood Community College,” Handler said. “We look forward to welcoming Kirkwood’s A.A.S. Business Administration graduates and supporting their smooth, successful transfer into the specialized Mount Mercy business programs that best fit their educational and career goals.”

The articulation agreement went into effect as soon as it was signed.
