Cedar Rapids, Iowa (May 24, 2016)-Kirkwood Continuing Education & Training Services (CETS) has been selected to host the LERN Best Practices Summit, June 14 – 17 at the Kirkwood Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The college will provide insight about building the nation’s leading program for lifelong education.

The Learning Resources Network (LERN), an association of more than 1000 colleges and universities, has specialized in setting up continuing education programs for more than 40 years. Kirkwood models LERN protocol and will share best practices with educational leaders from across North America.

According to LERN’s Senior Vice President for Organizational Development Greg Marsello, “This is a once in a lifetime event. Leaders will learn about the structure, programming, marketing and contracted sales that makes Kirkwood CETS a national leader.”

The three-day summit will include discussions with CETS leadership and a humorous presentation by musician and award-winning author, Bill Harley. More than 100 professionals from 35 colleges, representing 25 states, are expected to attend.

“Starting in early 1990, the college has put LERN’s proven approaches and structures into practice,” said Kirkwood Continuing Education & Training Services Vice President Kim Becicka, “Sharing our success story so that other programs can thrive is a great way of paying it forward.”

“Our Continuing Education & Training Services division is an integral part of the college,” said Mick Starcevich, Kirkwood president. “Over the years our program has made a substantial impact on our workforce and the local economy. I’m very proud of our team’s work and look forward to showcasing it at the summit.”

The LERN Best Practices Summit registration is accepted until June 10. More information is available at www.lern.org/bestpractices.
