What is your background?: I am from Rock Valley, Iowa, and attended Rock Valley Community School. I have my parents and one 13 year old brother back at home.

What brought you to Kirkwood and why?: Kirkwood was my first choice back when was a sophomore in high school. But, I ended up deciding to attend the U of I. I attended one semester there and decided that I wasn’t a big fan of the huge school. I came to Kirkwood because it was one of my top choices. It was still in the area but away from home and had connections to other good universities. Kirkwood was also more affordable.

What is your program of study and what interests you about it?: I am in the Liberal Arts Program studying theatre. I have been singing since I was eight and acting since I was 11. When I saw “The Lion King” Broadway show, I knew that musical theatre was what I wanted to do. Entertainment away from home and away from the media is the best entertainment. What people can do with the audience’s emotions in real life is much more satisfying than what a movie can do.

Are you involved in anything else on campus? If so, what and why?: I have auditioned for the musical “City of Angels” and I am super excited that I can be a part of it, whether it be on stage or backstage. I also help with the stage production and costumes. Sewing is my favorite part.

Are you involved in anything off of campus? If so, what and why?: I usually just work, workout, play video games and watch tv. Currently, I am a CNA in Marion. I am also training for the Air National Guard.

What do you do for fun?: I enjoy playing piano, singing in the shower, visiting home, binge watching older tv shows and musicals. I enjoy watching the Game of Thrones, Empire, The Walking Dead, Grey’s Anatomy and so much more! I love listening to music, especially when I cook and clean. I also hunt with shotgun and bow and love to shoot at the gun range on my free time to make sure I keep practice for when I do competitions during the summer. My record of 24 out of 25 and I have yet to beat it.

Where do you see yourself in five years?: I could see myself being in two different situations: One would be living in Texas, married, a soldier in the Air National Guard, and continuing towards my nursing degree to be a midwife. The other way would be traveling the country on Broadway and possibly still in the Air National Guard.
