Labor Day Saturday features Freedom Festival, Sunday is New Bohemia Music Fest

The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival events may have been delayed, but the volunteers and organizers will not be completely denied. Festival organizers have announced events of music and community fun that were postponed due to the record flooding of June 2008. Programs are set for Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30 and 31.

Kirkwood Community College will be the host of two Freedom Festival events, plus a re-scheduled music festival also displaced by floods. The schedule includes:

Saturday, Aug. 30 (Linn Hall parking lots)

9 a.m. — Freedom Festival Parade, sponsored by CarePro Health Services

10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – FestaFun, sponsored by Cargill, Pearson Educational Measurement, and The Gazette

Sunday, Aug. 31– New Bohemia Music Festival (Linn Hall parking lots.) More information on this event is available on the organizers’ Web site:
