JoAnna Forkner nabs NJCAA Second Team All-American accolades

The awards continue to pile up for Kirkwood Community College sophomore JoAnna Forkner (Marion, Iowa). Her impressive volleyball career concluded in fine form by earning a spot as an NJCAA Second Team All-American. The award comes just weeks after garnering First Team All-Region and First Team All-Conference selections.

Leading the team in kills (332) and posting 92 blocks on the year, Forkner helped the Eagles to a 29-10 record with a No. 11 ranking on the final polls. The Eagles only conference losses came from Iowa Lakes and Iowa Central. Both teams earned a spot in the NJCAA National Tournament, with Iowa Lakes finishing in fifth place. Iowa Central defeated the Eagles in the Region XI finals, and received eleventh place at the national tournament.

In Forknerā€™s freshman campaign, the Eagles finished in eighth place at the national tournament with a 31-14 overall record. Forkner recorded 271 kills and 57 blocks on the year.
