The Kirkwood United Nations Association Student Alliance will sponsor a discussion with area volunteer and activist Paul Deaton. His topic will be “Iran, Israel and the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty,” presented Thursday, March 4 at 11 a.m. in 234 Cedar Hall. The program is free and open to the public.

Paul Deaton is a non-physician member of the Iowa Chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility. The organization’s work has helped focus attention on the gravest threats to global survival: nuclear proliferation, climate change and social injustice. Deaton is chair of the Johnson County Board of Health, and board member and treasurer of the Solon Senior Advocates. In July 2009, he retired after 25 years in transportation from CRST Logistics, Inc., where he was Director of Operations.

Mr. Deaton holds a Masters Degree in American Studies from the University of Iowa Graduate College and is a former United States Army officer.
