Kirkwood Community College will complete its academic year exhibits with a focus on their own—an extensive collection of student art. The Fine Arts faculty and staff invite the public to the annual Student Art Exhibit, April 12 through April 30. The works are on display in the Iowa Hall Gallery, near Ballantyne Auditorium on the main Cedar Rapids campus.

About 100 art works will be featured in a wide variety of media, including painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture and glassworks. A key part of the exhibit is a collection of new glass pieces destined for display in The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, the college’s new hospitality teaching facility scheduled to open in the summer of 2010.

A reception for the students and faculty is scheduled for Thursday, April 29 from 11 a.m. to noon. Regular hours for the exhibit are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The exhibits are also open during evening musical and theatre performances in Ballantyne Auditorium. The displays and April 29 reception are free and open to the public.
