For Joe Yegge, the past few weeks have been full of confirmations that he recruited well. The Kirkwood Community College head softball coach notes several honors from players now settling into their first-year classes in Cedar Rapids.

Yegge noted the following honors given out to the players as they completed their high school careers and moved into college student-athlete roles at Kirkwood:

Molly Link, a shortstop from Western Dubuque High School was tabbed as a member of the Iowa High School Elite softball team. This honor also placed her on the 3A First Team. Link was also named 3A Offensive Player of the Year for the state of Iowa. She batted .480 with 37 RBi’s.
Carlie Schnoebelen will join Link on the 3A 1st team list. Schnoebelen comes to Kirkwood from New Hampton High School where she played shortstop. Schnoebelen hit .366 to wrap her high school career.

Jamie Davis, a pitcher from Davenport West High School and Shawna Dole, a shortstop from Dubuque Senior were named to the 4A First Team. Davis earned a 16-5 record while earning a 0.57 ERA from Davenport West. Shawna Dole led the way for Dubuque Senior with a .464 batting average along with 27 RBI’s.

Summer Chandler a shortstop/outfielder from Columbus Junction, Iowa was named to state 2A Honorable Mention team.
Mackenzie Cover and Asyah Moore were named to the 1A Honorable Mention teams for their accomplishments this summer. Cover is a pitcher from Lone Tree High School. Moore played her softball for Kee High in Lansing, Iowa.

Kylee Knop, a pitcher from Oxford, Georgia will join the Eagles this fall. Kylee pitched George Walton Academy to a second place finish in state competition in the Peach State. Joining Kylee from Georgia will be third baseman Chelsea Parrish from Lawrenceville. Both young women were members of the Georgia Fire ASA team that competed in the ASA national tournament this past summer.

Rounding out this year’s incoming class will be Coe College transfer Andrea Harms, who was a catcher for the Kohawks last year. Before the season started she was sidelined due to knee injury. Harms is originally from Springville High School in Springville, Iowa.
