The 2014 edition of KCCK’s annual “Hot Autumn Nights” fundraiser will bring back the music and humor of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. for “A Night with the Rat Pack” on Saturday, September 27, at 7:30 p.m. at The University Club in Iowa City.

Inspired by the famous Rat Pack performances by Frank Sinatra and his friends in Las Vegas in the early sixties, the event will feature music by the Rod Pierson “Not-So-Big” Band with Craig Boche and co-starring several local singers.

“Some years ago, I narrated a Frank Sinatra tribute show, adapted by Follies director Damon Cole from a show called ‘My Way,’” says KCCK Director Dennis Green. “At the time, I thought it would be fun to extend the retrospective to the whole Rat Pack. So, we re-worked some arrangements from that show, added some more tunes, seasoned it with some of their comedy routines and came up with something really fun.”

Boche will get to portray his hero, Dean Martin; a role Green says he’s been preparing for all his life. “When I told Craig we wanted him to portray Dean, he said ‘I’ve memorized every line Dean Martin uttered in those Rat Pack shows. Just tell me which one you’re using and off I’ll go.’”

KCCK has recruited other familiar personalities from The Follies, Theatre Cedar Rapids and other performances to round out the Rat Pack, including Steve Rezabek, Tracy Price, Tina Monroe, Tracie Hodina and Cathy Koebrick.

“A Night with the Rat Pack” will be Saturday, September 27, at 7:30 p.m. at The University Club, 1360 Melrose Avenue, Iowa City. Tickets are $75 each and include food and drink tickets. A limited number of “Bring My Own Pack” table packages are available for up to eight people for $500.
