Mary Feeney-Wilfer Awarded Employee of the Quarter for outstanding service

A long-time adult educator of Kirkwood Community College has earned an employee honor at the Anamosa State Penitentiary. Mary Feeney-Wilfer was selected as the ASP’s Employee of the Quarter. The education director in Anamosa got kudos for her “can-do attitude, pleasant personality and willingness to resolve educational issues” with inmates at the facility.

In other comments accompanying the award, penitentiary leaders noted Mary’s recent work with a commencement ceremony for GED grads; collaborating with Mount Mercy College on group book discussions with offenders, and bringing vocational training to offenders in Anamosa.

“I am pleased to know that the Penitentiary staff recognizes the great work Mary does on behalf of offender learners, the Kirkwood staff, and the Penitentiary,” said our Secondary Programs Director Kay Nebergall.

Mary Feeney-Wilfer has been a Kirkwood employee since 1997. Kirkwood supplies GED, literacy and other adult education services to inmates at the Anamosa and Iowa Medical Classification Center in Oakdale.
