Expo showcases the latest in adaptive devices and services

Cedar Rapids, Iowa (September 29, 2015)-The Abilities in Action Conference & Expo will take place Wednesday, October 7, at Kirkwood Training and Outreach Services, 3375 Armar Drive in Marion. The conference is for health professionals working in the direct care field.

Kirkwood has held the Abilities in Action Conference for 12 years. It typically attracts more than 125 care providers from across the state. This year’s conference will focus on some of the challenges faced by providers, such as post-traumatic stress disorder and compassion fatigue. Those attending will earn continuing education hours required for their profession.

The expo will showcase 12 agencies that offer services for individuals of all ages with varying degrees of disabilities. The expo is free and open to the public. There is a charge to attend the conference.

“At our conference the expo is part of the curriculum,” said Conference Coordinator Laura Daman. “We want care providers to have the opportunity to learn about adaptive devices and services that may help their clients be more independent.”

Conference registration is still open. For more information, please visit www.kirkwood.edu/ce or call 800-332-8833.
