CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (June 18, 2018)–Kirkwood Community College will host the Annual Water Conference on June 25 – 26, and the Annual Wastewater Conference on July 30 – 31, at the Kirkwood Continuing Education and Training Center. The conferences bring together industry leaders to focus on water quality and protection. Additionally, attendees may renew licenses at both.

The two-day conference in June includes nine breakout sessions. Topics will include pipe repair techniques, ammonia treatment, GIS mapping and management, and more.

Participants in the July wastewater conference will discuss various seal and nutrient removal technologies, reduction methods, and algae and ammonia control, among other relevant topics.

Kirkwood has hosted these conferences for nearly 30 years, attracting professionals from all corners of Iowa. They provide a venue for water professionals to network and exchange information.

According to Kirkwood Program Developer Kim Fensterman, “Our conferences enable water and wastewater professionals to discuss safety issues and learn best practices for sustaining clean water in communities throughout Iowa.”

Water professionals are required by the state of Iowa to earn 1.0 hours of continuing education units to maintain their license. Professionals will receive 10 hours of credit for attending.
