2013 East-central Iowa Safety & Health Conference

Top safety instructors from across eastern Iowa will come together to share lessons learned in safety and health training needs of business and industry. Registration for the 2013 East-central Iowa Safety & Health Conference on February 26, is now open.

The conference will feature keynote and breakout sessions with speakers from business, contractor, education and health care industries. It is the second annual event, in partnership with the University of Iowa.

Participants will choose four of the 18 breakout sessions during the one-day event at The Kirkwood Center, on the main campus of Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. The $79 tuition includes the keynote address, breakout sessions and lunch.

This year’s keynote speaker, Doug Sterbenz, is the executive vice president and chief operating officer for Westar Energy. He leads the operating activities for the largest electric provider in the state of Kansas.

Other conference speakers will dive into topics ranging from OSHA compliance to database management software and ergonomics to establishing an emergency contact base of contractors.
