CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (April 28, 2026)–Registration is open for Kirkwood Community College’s Kirkwood Interactive Camps for Kids (KICK), with a variety of sessions still available for youth ages 8–15 seeking hands-on, career-focused summer experiences.

With options in Cedar Rapids, Coralville and online, KICK camps combine education and fun through interactive activities designed to build skills and spark interest in future careers. While registration has been open for several weeks, many camps still have open spots, giving families time to enroll before sessions begin in June and July.

Highlighted camps with current availability include:

  • Future Health Heroes (June 15–17, $159, ages 9–13): Participants explore the fundamentals of medicine through anatomy activities, learning to take vitals, practicing injections and CPR, and gaining a deeper understanding of how the body works.
  • Exploring Aviation Maintenance (June 23–24, $99, ages 10–14): Campers step inside real aircraft, complete STEM-based projects, and learn the basics of becoming an FAA-certified airframe and powerplant technician, including safety wiring and engine exploration.
  • Eat Around the World: Mexico (July 13–14, $125, ages 10–15): Young chefs experience Mexican cuisine through cooking, tasting and cultural exploration, building confidence while learning how food connects to history and community.

“KICK camps give students a chance to discover new interests in a fun, supportive environment while gaining real-world skills,” said Kirkwood Program Director Melanie Bouzek. “Whether they’re interested in health care, aviation or culinary arts, there’s something here to inspire every student.”

KICK camps are designed to provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences that encourage creativity, teamwork and exploration. Each session emphasizes skill development while helping participants build confidence and make new friends.
