For the second consecutive week, the NJCAA has recognized a Kirkwood Community College softball player as player of the week. Sophomore Jami Miller earned a spot as the NJCAA National Player of the Week after leading the Eagles to nine victories last week.
Hitting in the lead-off position, Miller serves as an offensive threat for the Eagles. Last week, the Genoa, Ill. standout sparked the Eagles offense going 19-31 at the plate with a .613 batting average. The third baseman posted 19 runs, two doubles, 11 RBIs, a walk and five stolen bases. She blasted four homeruns throughout the week, including two walk-offs, due to the mercy rule.
Miller earned First Team NFCA All-American and Region XI First Team All-Region honors last season as a freshman. She plans to finish her student-athlete career at the University of Wisconsin.
The Eagles post a 31-7 record with a No. 3 ranking on the Division II NJCAA national polls. The women are back in action Saturday, April 16 against conference opponent Ellsworth Community College.
