August 20 event to offer information and assistance for Benton County flood-affected citizens

The Heritage Agency, in partnership with Benton County Disaster Recovery Coalition, will hold a Community Outreach Day in Vinton on Thursday, August 20, 2009. The event is an effort to reach out to those who are still struggling to recover from the flooding of June 2008.

The program will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, 516 2nd Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Heritage Agency will be co-hosting the event and meeting with residents aged 60 and up to assist with their flood-related needs.

All Benton County residents directly affected by the June 2008 natural disasters are encouraged to attend and meet with the many different organizations working in the recovery efforts. Those attending are asked to bring photo identification, FEMA number, and any receipts or estimates related to your recovery.

Interested residents ages 60 and up with questions can contact Katherine Hines with the Heritage Agency, 319-398-5559 or 1-800-332-5934. Those under 60 may contact Teresa Rose with the Benton County Disaster Recovery Coalition, at 319- 472-3288.
