CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (February 20, 2017)—Kirkwood Community College’s Beyond Rubies Women’s Conference takes place March 2 -3 at the Kirkwood Center on main campus in Cedar Rapids. This year’s keynote speakers put a humorous spin on two trending topics.

Fortune 50 veteran Matt Havens, specializes in marketing, employee retention and management. His interactive presentation “Stop Acting Your Age!” addresses the challenges presented in a multigenerational workplace. Havens explores cultural, technological and social changes and offers strategies to address and eliminate disconnect.

Nationally recognized speaker Juli Burney has expanded 30 years of teaching college students beyond the classroom. Known for her wit and comedic timing, Burney will explain how intellect and emotions affect perception, expectations and interpersonal communication.

The Beyond Rubies conference has been focusing on women’s personal and professional development for 35 years. This year topics range from changing work culture to establishing healthy relationships. Participants can choose from more than 45 breakout sessions.

“We offer registration for one or both days of the conference. It’s a wonderful event that enables women to better themselves, network and re-energize,” said Coordinator Erin Brokel. “Each year we receive so much positive feedback.”

Registration includes lunch. Various vendors will be on hand. Although preconference registration is preferred, same day sign up is an option. For more information visit www.kirkwood.edu/rubies.
