Expo showcases the latest in adaptive devices and services
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (September 21, 2016)-The Abilities in Action Conference & Expo will take place Wednesday, October 12, at Kirkwood Training and Outreach Services, 3375 Armar Drive in Marion. The conference is for health professionals working in the disability field.
Kirkwood has held the Abilities in Action Conference for 13 years. It typically attracts more than 125 care providers from across the state. This year’s conference addresses accommodating the deaf, hard of hearing or deaf-blind communities, compassion fatigue, handling challenging behaviors and post-traumatic stress disorder. Those attending will earn continuing education hours required for their profession.
The one-day event includes an exhibitor expo. The Expo is free and open to the public. There is a charge to attend the conference.
“At our conference the Expo is part of the curriculum,” said Conference Coordinator Laura Daman. “We want care providers to have the opportunity to learn about adaptive devices and services that may help their clients be more independent.”
