What is your background: I was born in Congo, My family and I moved to the US ten years ago. I’m the youngest of six siblings. I live in North Liberty with my parents. English is one of the four languages I speak; along with French, Lingala, and Tshiluba.
What brought you to Kirkwood and why?: In the fall of 2020, I took liberal arts classes at Kirkwood to transfer to UNI for Psychiatry.
What is your program of study and what interests you about it?: I study Interior Design. I have always been interested in Architecture/ construction and anything design related. when I started the program I felt fulfilled, I felt passionate about everything I learned. That passion continues to live with me.
Are you involved in anything else on campus? If so, what and why?: Yes, I’m involved with KSID (Kirkwood Student Interior Design). A beneficial club within the interior design program, where I have found knowledge and growth.
Are you involved in anything off of campus?: No, I’m not actively involved in anything off campus but when the opportunity arises I like to volunteer; I’ve volunteered twice with Habitat for Humanity (in Iowa City and in the Twin Cities in Minnesota).
What do you do for fun?: I enjoy running/working out, trying new restaurants, traveling to new cities, Learning a new topic/ subject to expand my knowledge, and enjoying activities that further fuel my creativity.
Where do you see yourself in five years?: In five years, I see myself established in my career. I see myself exploring, expanding my knowledge, and getting to experience firsthand great design.
