Community Colleges for International Development, Inc. has ended a six-month search for its new president/executive director, promoting Carol Stax Brown, Ph.D. from her current position as the National Director for CCID. Her appointment is effective April 15, 2011. Stax Brown has led the very successful Community College Initiative as CCID’s National Director since 2008. Earlier in her career she became the campus administrator for Lanier Technical College in the state of Georgia opening a new campus college and managing accreditation processes for its technical and industrial programs. She also has several years of corporate experience in marketing and public relations, with particular success in start-up company ventures.
Stax Brown received her B.A. from James Madison University and M.A.T. from Quinnipiac University. Recently, she earned her Ed.D. in Workforce Education from the University of Georgia through the Community and Technical College Leadership Program. Her research focus examined “Global Virtual Communities of Practice.” She continues to support efforts to promote the community college model in developing nations. Additionally, Stax Brown is a graduate of the Georgia Academy for Economic Development and the League for Innovation of Community Colleges’ Executive Leadership Institute.
Established in 1976, CCID is a non-profit organization promoting global education and economic development through its consortium of more than 170 two-year colleges in the United States and 19 other countries. Developing the two-year college model for overseas clients, vocational workforce development and undertaking needs assessments are specialties. The CCID executive office has been hosted at Kirkwood Community College since 1998.
