Meeting to focus on college’s workforce and training efforts in Cedar County
TIPTON, Iowa (Feb. 12, 2025)–Kirkwood Community College will hold the next meeting of the institution’s Cedar County Leadership Council on Feb. 24, from 3-4:30 p.m., at the Cedar County Historical Society and Museum in Tipton. Kirkwood President Kristie Fisher, college officials, local community leaders and members of the general public are all expected to be in attendance.
The meeting will be the second for the County Leadership Council, which brings key stakeholders together for a conversation about how Kirkwood’s impactful resources are utilized in their community as well as how the college can address other pressing needs. The discussion will center on the institution’s workforce and training efforts in Cedar County, including what Kirkwood offers currently. In addition, college leaders would like to hear ideas from those attending about how the college can further serve their region.
According to Kirkwood Regional Center Director Jon Weih, the meeting is a chance to expand the institution’s impact in the county.
“The Cedar County Leadership Council is a great opportunity for us to listen, collaborate and strengthen our workforce training efforts in the community,” said Weih. “We want to ensure that our programs align with the needs of local businesses and residents, providing them with the skills and training necessary for success. By bringing together key stakeholders, we can identify opportunities to enhance our impact and better serve Cedar County. We look forward to the conversation that will help shape the future of education and workforce development in the area.”
The college plans to hold two County Leadership Council meetings per year in the fall and spring.
