Meeting will feature information on college’s Agricultural Sciences programs

TIPTON, Iowa (Oct. 28, 2025)–Kirkwood Community College will host the next meeting of its Cedar County Leadership Council on Monday, Nov. 3, from 3–4:30 p.m. at the Cedar County Historical Society and Museum in Tipton. College representatives, local leaders and community members are all expected to attend.

This will be the second gathering of the council this year, which was created to further connect Kirkwood with the communities it serves. The meetings focus on how the college’s resources benefit the region and how new opportunities can be developed to meet local needs.

The upcoming meeting will spotlight Kirkwood’s Agricultural Sciences department–recognized widely as one of the leading two-year Ag programs in the country. Attendees will hear about the different programs available, learn about recent developments within the department, and how it supports students, employers, and the agricultural community.

Kirkwood Regional Center Director Jon Weih said the upcoming gathering aims to strengthen community connections while sharing what’s new at the college.

“Our next session will feature key college-wide updates, news about the college’s efforts in Cedar County, and spotlights on our exceptional Agricultural Sciences programs,” Weih said. “It’s a great opportunity for residents to learn about the exciting things happening at Kirkwood, discover nearby resources, and share their thoughts to help guide the college’s future direction. We hope everyone will join us and take part in this ongoing dialogue about education and growth in our community.”

The Cedar County Leadership Council meets twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring.
