Spring break study abroad trip introduces students to Japanese culture
Kirkwood Culinary Arts students left March 14 to study abroad in Japan over spring break.
“[These students] are a wonderful representation of our college and we should be so proud that they have taken this opportunity to enhance their culinary skills in an international setting,” Connie Mays, International Programs Director said.
Kirkwood’s partnership with JIKEI started in 2005. The friendship and collaborative programs have continued. this is Kirkwood’s second Study Abroad Program in Culinary Arts that was hosted by JIKEI at a very affordable price. They also hosted a program in Animation, led by KCC faculty, Dr. Catherine Schaff-Stump.
This year Culinary students had two choices: Japan and Italy. The Italy Study Abroad Program will run in May, led by Mary Rhiner.
