Team’s quest for a national championship begins versus Owens Community College
Cedar Rapids, Iowa (Nov. 18, 2015)-The Kirkwood Community College volleyball team begins play in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Volleyball National Tournament on Thursday (11/19). The twelfth-seeded Eagles will face the number five seed Owens Community College Express from Perrysburg, Ohio in a first round matchup beginning at 4 p.m. central.
Kirkwood is ranked number 17 in the nation and finished the season with a 28-15 record. The team earned a berth to the national tournament by winning the NJCAA Region XI-B title over Iowa Central Community College. The Express, ranked ninth in the nation, come into the tournament with a record of 37-6.
The two teams squared off earlier in the season with Owens coming out on top in four sets.
