What is you background?: I was born and raised in Honduras. I grew up with my grandparents, because my mom moved to the USA when I was four. I have two sisters and one brother, my younger sister and I moved to the United States five years ago. It was the biggest change of my life, the most important decision that I have ever made.
What brought you to Kirkwood and Why?: When I got to the United States I wasn’t sure what to do with my life. I knew that I wanted to go to school and Kirkwood Community college was my best option. It was more affordable than other schools and they had and English department which was what I needed when I got here. I started taking English classes first and then regular classes. I love everything that I have learned here.
What is your program of study and what interest you about it?: I’m studying Business Administration Management and I’m actually going to graduate this May. I also will get my HR certificate and my Global Business certificate. What really interests me about my program is that we students get involved with great activities that prepare us for the real work world.
Are you involved with anything else on campus?: I’m not really involved with anything on campus, because I honestly don’t have time. I work full-time in addition to being a full-time student. That combination doesn’t give me a lot of free time.
What do you do for fun?: I love to spend time with my family, going to church and exercising. I love the summer sun and do enjoy being active and healthy. I also enjoy reading and writing.
Where do you see yourself in five years?: After graduating I hope to get a better job, and then start a family and continue my education. I plan to keep working on my four-year degree.
