Molly Link Named National Player of the Week

The honors and national notoriety for The Kirkwood Eagles continues. The National Junior College Athletic Association has named Molly Link a Division II Softball Player of the Week.

The Kirkwood Community College Eagles had a busy time on the field, going 7-2 on the week. On March 23, in a double-header with Southwestern CC (Iowa), Link went a combined 5-for-6 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBIs. On March 24, against John Wood CC (Ill.), the sophomore went 1-for-3 with one run, and one double.

The next day, in a doubleheader against North Iowa Area CC, the second baseman went 2-for-6 with three runs, one RBI and two stolen bases. Then on March 27, against No. 6 Iowa Central CC, Link shined going 6-for-8 with five runs, two doubles, two home runs, and five RBI. The Next day, in another doubleheader against Iowa Lakes CC, she went 2-for-6 with one home run, two RBI, and two walks.

In a fantastic week, Link hit .552 (16-29) with 12 runs, six doubles, three home runs, 10 RBI, two walks, and two stolen bases.

Link is a native of Holy Cross, Iowa and graduated from Western Dubuque-Epworth. As a senior she earned Iowa 3A Offensive Player of the Year, and made the Elite All State Team. Link was the Dubuque Telegraph Herald Player of the Year and numerous other school and conference honors. She currently holds nine school records t Western Dubuque.

Molly Link plans to transfer to the University of Mary to continue her student-athlete career in softball and major in Criminal Justice.
