Seth Cruise graduated in December, earns sole Corridor student ADDY at Feb. 20 Ceremonies

A public service project aimed to raise the consciousness of our area has also earned a recent Kirkwood graduate some notable praise. Seth Cruise won the 2009-10 Student ADDY Award from the Advertising Federation of Cedar Rapids-Iowa City.

Cruise was among the honorees at the annual AdFed/ADDYs gala held Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. His winning art work was designed as a public service announcement to call attention to the plight of many women around the world as they deal with domestic violence.

“I thought I would simply make a PSA for domestic abuse and let the creative art speak for itself. I used PhotoShop (software) and employed many layers and levels, brushes and editing the watermark to come to a final composition,” he said.

Seth Cruise is a December 2009 graduate of Kirkwood’s Graphic Communications Technology program. Some of his other recent projects have included Web design for a Corridor home contracting firm and other freelance work. Cruise plans to attend Coe College in the fall, pursuing a degree in art education.
