The Hotel at Kirkwood Center
The Hotel at Kirkwood Center has been named Employer of the Year by Goodwill of the Heartland.
Since it opened in 2010, The Hotel has hosted tours of the facility, and offered internships and full-time jobs to those who are part of the Goodwill program.
“This award is recognition of partnering with an organization that puts well-deserving people to work,” said John Benefield, executive housekeeper at The Hotel. “In addition to helping a large variety of people become contributing members of society, they help in promoting our student success. We are teaching and training students to go out into the workforce, and hopefully they will look to similar organizations as a potential source for employees. The Hotel will receive an award, and recognition for doing what, simply put, is the right thing to do.”
As part of the designation, The Hotel will receive an “Edgar” achievement award at a May awards ceremony. The “Edgars” are named in honor of the national Goodwill founder Edgar J. Helms, who grew up in Iowa. These awards recognize the achievements and services by community partners of Goodwill of the Heartland.
