Meeting will feature information on college’s Agricultural Sciences programs
WASHINGTON, Iowa (Sept. 22, 2025)–Kirkwood Community College will host the next meeting of its Washington County Leadership Council on Friday, Oct. 3, from 9–10:30 a.m. at the Washington County Regional Center in Washington. College representatives, local leaders and community members are all expected to attend.
This will be the second gathering of the council this year, which was created to further connect Kirkwood with the communities it serves. The meetings focus on how the college’s resources benefit the region and how new opportunities can be developed to meet local needs.
The upcoming meeting will spotlight Kirkwood’s Agricultural Sciences department–recognized widely as one of the leading two-year Ag programs in the country. Attendees will hear about the different programs available, learn about recent developments within the department, and how it supports students, employers, and the agricultural community.
Kirkwood Washington County Regional Center Director Tera Pickens said the event is an opportunity for community members to understand how the college is serving their area.
“The meeting will give us a chance to showcase what’s happening across Kirkwood,” said Pickens. “We’ll be sharing college-wide updates, introducing news from the Washington County Regional Center, and highlighting our amazing Agricultural Sciences programs. Most importantly, it’s a moment for the community to connect with us–to learn about opportunities nearby and to offer feedback that will help shape where we go next. We truly hope residents will take part and join the discussion about the future of higher education in Washington County.”
The Washington County Leadership Council meets twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring.
