The conferences will be held on Kirkwood’s main campus in Cedar Rapids
Two summer conferences at Kirkwood Community College aim to help keep drinking water and sanitation safe in Iowa. The Annual Water and Wastewater Conferences bring together operators and other professionals to discuss water and wastewater issues in the state.
The Annual Water Conference runs June 17-18, addressing topics such as cleaning water mains with ice, asset management, testing ammonia in drinking water, what droughts mean to water systems and more.
The Annual Wastewater Conference is July 29-30. Participants will learn about confined spaces, nutrient removal strategies, wastewater microbiology, pumps and more.
Conference attendees may renew their current licenses for the upcoming renewal period. Both conferences are at the Community Training & Response Center on Kirkwood Community College’s main campus in Cedar Rapids. Each conference is $135 for both days.
Kirkwood Continuing Education notes more than 63,000 annual enrollments in classes ranging from industry certification to career development to personal enrichment. Last year 13,000 workers received professional development through Kirkwood.
