Five Eagles Women Sign with D-I Programs

Schools in New York, Louisiana and Wisconsin will benefit from national champs’ experience

Kirkwood Community College Athletics has announced the signing of five noted players to respected national programs. Sophomore women’s basketball players Rachele Monroe (Clutier, Iowa); Ashley Gorsh (Urbana,Iowa); and Allie Lindemann (Champaign, IL); are joined by Breann Hill (Harrisburg, PA) and Lauren Thomas-Johnson (Manchester, England, UK) as they sign their national letters of intents at the recent Kirkwood women’s basketball banquet.

Rachele Monroe, a Union High School graduate and Ashley Gorsh, a Center Point-Urbana graduate have both inked with the University of New Orleans. UNO is a member of the Sunbelt Conference. Monroe averaged 8.5 points per game and knocked down 51 three-point field goal attempts. Gorsh averaged 3.8 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game and blocked 29 shots.

Allie Lindemann from Champaign, IL Central High School has signed with Siena College in Loudonville, NY. Siena is a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Lindemann averaged 11.5 points per game and knocked down 94 three-point goals. She concluded her sophomore season by being named to the all-tournament team at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.

Breann Hill and Lauren Thomas-Johnson had previously signed Letters of Intent with the WNIT championship team at Marquette University in Milwaukee.

The Kirkwood Eagles women finished the 2007-08 season at 31-6 overall and won their second straight NJCAA Division II national title. Under Head Coach Muhl’s leadership the Eagles have won four D-II national championships: 1997, 2003 and 2007 as well as this season.
