What is your background?: I am an International Student from a Mutare, Zimbabwe. My family is back home in Mutare, anxiously awaiting my return. That includes my mom, three brothers and a sister, and my 12-year-old daughter, whom I have not seen for more than two years.
What brought you to Kirkwood and why?: After completing an electrician apprenticeship in Zimbabwe in 2016, I knew I wanted to further my studies. I learned about Kirkwood from a friend and came her to further my education.
What is your program of study and what interests you about it?: I will be graduating with my AAS in Industrial Maintenance Technology this semester. I am interested in IMT because back home there isn’t much in the way of modern machines and technology and I find them exciting.
Are you involved in anything on campus?: I used to work as a housekeeper at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center. But today, other than my studies, I am not involved in anything on campus.
What do you do for fun?: I enjoy going bowling and listening to music.
Where do you see yourself in five years?: One of my goals is to share the knowledge I have learned at Kirkwood with others back home. I would also love to continue my education one day and possibly become an electrical engineer.
