Meeting scheduled for Sept. 25, local leaders and general public invited to attend
WILLIAMSBURG, Iowa (Sept. 11, 2024)–Kirkwood Community College will hold the first meeting of the institution’s Iowa County Leadership Council on Sept. 25, from 4-5:30 p.m., at the Kirkwood Iowa County Center in Williamsburg. Kirkwood President Kristie Fisher, college officials, local community leaders, and members of the general public are all expected to be in attendance.
The goal of the County Leadership Council is to bring key stakeholders together for a discussion about how Kirkwood’s impactful resources are utilized in their community. The topics discussed will relate to the college’s work throughout Iowa County including workforce development, current trends, college statistics, common areas of interest, new opportunities and economic impact among others. In addition, college leaders would like to hear from attendees about how Kirkwood can help address the pressing education, training and workforce needs of Iowa County.
To Kirkwood Iowa County Center Associate Director Michael Jacobsen, the leadership council is a chance for attendees to learn about what Kirkwood is already doing in Iowa County and to discuss how the college can further serve their communities.
“The County Leadership Council is a great opportunity to convey some of the great things already going on with Kirkwood’s work in Iowa County,” said Jacobsen. “Additionally, it provides a valuable public forum for anyone interested and invested in the continued growth and expanded educational and economic opportunities in our area. We are delighted to partner with many schools, businesses, and non-profits already, and look forward to hearing about additional opportunities and innovative ideas from community leaders, stakeholders, students, and the general public. We look forward to seeing everyone on Sept. 25.”
The college plans to hold two County Leadership Council meetings per year in the fall and spring.
