CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (June 3, 2026)–Kirkwood Community College will recognize 129 students who have completed their high school education during the 2026 High School Completion Graduation Ceremony on Monday, June 8, at 7 p.m. in the ballroom at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center. Approximately 50 graduates are expected to participate in the ceremony.

To graduate, students must have completed the requirements in one of two pathways to earn a credential. For those adults that are just a few credit hours short of graduating high school, classes are offered through Kirkwood’s adult high school program. After taking their remaining classes, students will graduate with an adult high school diploma. For those that require more instruction, students can take additional classes toward earning their credential. When ready, students then take the High School Equivalency Test, also known as the HiSET, to earn their high school equivalency diploma.

Kirkwood President Dr. Kristie Fisher and Director of Adult Education and Literacy Stephanie Hasakis Flaucher will address graduates and guests during the ceremony. In addition, three members of the graduating class will also speak about their personal experiences and educational journeys, including:

  • Autumn Azcarraga
  • Delilah Lopez
  • Venus Reeves

The ceremony is free and open to the public. A reception for graduates, family members and guests will immediately follow the ceremony.

More information about the program is available at www.kirkwood.edu/highschool.
