Kirkwood, Heritage among sponsors; aim is to improve financial awareness, strengthen family security
Financial literacy is a thread of knowledge and skills to help families build financial stability and independence. Community partners are planning for Cedar Rapids/Iowa City’s second Money Smart Week (MSW). Money Smart Week is an initiative, led by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
This program provides free educational opportunities for individuals to learn more about financial matters such as identity theft, investment strategies and more. Organizers emphasize that there is no product solicitation involved in the events.
This year, MSW week will take place from April 17 – 25. The 2009 events include a half day conference for women on Saturday, April 25 at Kirkwood Community College. This free conference includes a notable line-up of speakers and has limited seating capacity. There is still room for interested individuals to register and participate.
