Kirkwood Community College has hired Eric Weiler as Annual Giving Director for the Kirkwood Foundation. He began his duties May 27.

Weiler comes to the position from Goodwill Industries of the Heartland, where he was the agency’s director of development. Weiler has also served in positions with the Boy Scouts of America in Des Moines as well as the Quad City Thunder basketball franchise.

Kirkwood Vice President of Resource Development, Kathy Hall called Weiler’s background and knowledge a “wonderful fit and foundation” for his new college role.

“Eric brings a deep understanding of our wider community and its overall needs to this crucial role at Kirkwood. We know he will be invaluable in building and maintaining the relationships and resource opportunities for the college while finding new partnerships for mutual benefit in our area,” Hall said.

Weiler holds baccalaureate and master’s degrees from Western Illinois University and began his higher education at Southeastern Community College in Burlington, Iowa. His community service activities include Rotary Club, Association of Fund Raising Professionals, Eastern Iowa Planned Giving Council, Chamber of Commerce and United Way.

In accepting the position, Weiler noted his own background as a model for Kirkwood’s role and potential in the Corridor.

“I am honored and thrilled to be a part of this college, especially in a capacity of showing people what they can do to further our mission. As a community college graduate myself, I personally understand how Kirkwood is a real engine of opportunity and growth for thousands of people every year. We have so many promising possibilities ahead of us and I look forward to doing all I can to make them a reality,” Weiler said.

Weiler can be reached at the Kirkwood Foundation by phone, (319) 398-1281.
