What brought you to Kirkwood and why?: I originally came to Kirkwood because I was interested in Dental Hygiene. I am from the Quad Cities and wanted to move out of my parents home, Kirkwood was close enough and yet far enough from home. The final reason is because Kirkwood was affordable for me and I really liked the class sizes and the campus.

What is your program of study and what interests you about it?: I’m studying Computer Software Development. There is always something new to learn. The programming world always provides something new because it is always changing and the world is making advancements. Since I have been around tech all of my life, I am able to do many things with this skill. I can use it to work as well as a hobby like making games. I can also use it as a way to make extra money.

Are you involved in anything else on campus? If so, what and why?: I am not as involved with things as I would like to be on campus. I would be interested in joining tech related clubs.

Are you involved in anything off of campus?: I was involved in an internship at GreatAmerica Financial but that turned into a part time job that I have been at for almost a year. I worked my way up from help desk to a developer intern.

What do you do for fun?: In the summer I like to Kayak, fish, and hike with my friends and family. When I am not doing that you can generally find me in front of a screen. I am usually watching movies with my girlfriend, programming, or gaming!

Where do you see yourself in five years?: In five years, after getting my Software Development degree from Kirkwood, I see myself working as a full-time developer at GreatAmerica who just graduated from Mt. Mercy with an MIS degree. I will have published a few programs and will be working on my next one!
