Film on Iowa’s long-term care system at KTOS Center in Marion
A documentary film produced by Kirkwood Community College will get its premiere showing at a Sept. 10 forum. The documentary is entitled HOME and focuses on Iowa’s over-reliance on institutional-based care in Iowa. The program will premiere as part of a free forum, “Institutional Bias in Iowa.”
A production of Kirkwood Community College and the Heritage Area Agency on Aging, the film features Iowans of all ages who have long term health care needs talking about their experiences and how Iowa’s current long term care system impacts where and how they live.
The conference at the Kirkwood Training and Outreach Services Center will include discussions from various experts and advocates for long-term care and alternatives to nursing home care in Iowa. The free program will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
